THE MULTI-COURT POTOMAC STORM VOLLEYBALL FACILITY

WHEN DOES THE SEASON START AND HOW LONG IS IT?

The PSVBC 2021-22 season plan calls for teams to begin training THE 1ST WEEK OF DECEMBER, 2021 & begin tournament competition in accordance with the schedule provided at the pre-season parent meeting.

Girls National teams may compete through the AAU National Championships (held annually in Orlando, FL) in mid/late June or USA Junior National Volleyball Championships in late June or early July. PSVBC has budgeted for 18 weeks of practices. Teams that win an entry into the National Championships will be provided extra practices as gym and coach availability allows.

If practice facilities are ordered closed, including but not limited to schools, recreation centers, churches, and civic centers, there will be no practices. The safety of PSVBC families and staff is paramount to PSVBC, therefore practices may be cancelled due to inclement weather days, unforeseen emergency's, or for reason's beyond the control of PSVBC. Such practices may or may not be rescheduled, depending on gym and coach availability.

HOW OFTEN AND HOW LONG ARE PRACTICES?

Teams will typically practice 2 times per week and for 2 hours per practice. National's teams will practice up to 4x per week.
If a team's parents desire additional practices, they may request additional gym time/practice through the team's Head Coach. There may be a fee for the coach's time.

HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS DO TEAMS PLAY IN?

Tournaments USUALLY occur about 2 times a month on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Teams competing at overnight tournaments and/or at the National Championships will, of course, spend more days at those tournaments.

PSVBC plans to host tournaments for ALL age groups, during the 2021-2022 travel season, in our multi-court facility in Berkeley Cty, West Virginia. Nine home tournament dates have already been selected.

All team's tournaments will be listed before December 15th.

HOW WILL PARENTS BE NOTIFIED IF THEIR CHILD IS SELECTED FOR A TEAM?

Club officials will make a time/date stamped written offer or an offer via electronic means, for a roster position on a team. If Parents accept the offer, they will be required to sign PSVBC's Parent/Player Agreement, and will receive an invitation to a scheduled parent meeting.

ARE THERE PRACTICE PLAYER POSITIONS?

PSVBC offers practice player positions. Practice players are NOT tournament players but do practice & train with tournament players.
Practice players dues are typically 50% of tournament player dues. Practice players receive a white Potomac Storm jersey.

WILL YOU HAVE OPEN GYMS, SKILLS CLINICS, OR CAMPS?

PSVBC holds open gyms, skills clinics, and camps each season.

In 2021, Potomac Storm VBC held multiple 4 on 4 tournaments, clinics, an 'Intro to Volleyball' Tiny Tornadoes  program, and held our first annual Fall League with almost 4 dozen participating players.

Potomac Storm VBC intends to hold additional volleyball skills clinics prior to Travel Season Tryouts.

ALL clinics and camps are held at PSVBC's private multi-court facility, located at 64 Dupont Rd., in Martinsburg, WV

WHAT ABOUT FUNDRAISING?

As with virtually all youth sports programs, our parents and players are required to participate in club fundraising programs. The fundraisers are a means to keep the team dues for players as low as possible. Each team will have a team parent who will coordinate on fundraising.

Please keep in mind we are a private 501(c)3 organization and do not receive any facility support from surrounding municipalities as do many other local youth groups. Additional fundraising will be held on a team-by-team basis. Team fundraising shall be held to cover coaching costs. Parents interested in fundraising should work with the team parent to discuss team fundraising opportunities.

All fundraising must be approved, in writing, by the Board of Directors, in order to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations. Once a fundraising has been held, funds must be submitted to the club's Treasurer within 24 hours. The funds will be deposited into the non profit's bank account, to insure an accurate tax filing. The funds will be earmarked for the team that raised them and used for allowed expenditures for that team. ALL parents are required to participate in club wide fundraisers, which benefit every team & player. Parents may opt out of annual club fundraising by paying an additional $200 in club dues, at the parent meeting.

WHAT ABOUT PAYMENT PLANS?

We will do our best to work with parents needing a payment plan.

If you want to make payment arrangements, please email our club administrative staff at [email protected]
OR
Speak to one of our staff members at the Parent Meeting.

We can accept post dated checks and credit/debit cards. (If using cards, the processing fee will be added to the amount of the club dues/fees)
**Payment arrangements are confidential.
